This is mainly because I really couldn’t stand Noah’s personality at times. While I enjoyed this book, especially for the diversity of the main character, he’s a Puerto Rican/Japanese trans black boy, and the diversity of his inner circle, the book is still only a 4.5 star read for me. Noah’s struggle comes as he tries to juggle his first real relationship, although it starts off confusingly fake to counter the blog troll, and his first real job working at a summer camp. Drew realizes Noah is the ‘Meet Cute Diary’ moderator and after Noah reveals the truth that he writes all the stories they come up with a plan to make their fake meet-cute story real and the blog quickly becomes all about Drew and Noah’s relationship.

After a failed job interview at a bookstore, Noah meets his solution to the troll problem in 18-year-old Drew, a real-life fan of the ‘Meet Cute Diary’. The job search comes at the worst time because right when Noah has less time for the ‘Meet Cute Diary’ a troll blog comes out disputing all his meet-cute stories to prove they’re not real.

Things get sticky straight away for Noah, in real life and online, when his parents cut him off for spending $400 on his credit card during his first couple weeks in Colorado and tell him to get a job. Although, his followers truly believe all these stories are from real trans people all over Miami. But, he believes the successful Tumblr blog, ‘Meet Cute Diary’, that he runs is evidence enough of his expertise, since he’s the one who has written all the trans love meet-cute stories his followers can’t get enough of.

Noah deems himself an expert on love even though he’s never truly been in love himself. It takes place during the summer in Colorado where Noah crashes at his older brother Brian’s college apartment before having to move into his parent’s new home in California after living in Florida his entire life. Meet Cute Diary is a Young Adult romance novel featuring a 16-year old trans boy as the main character, Noah.
